Project Description

This project involved the design-build of a water treatment plant and a wastewater treatment plant for the Nordic Competition Venue in Whistler, BC.

  • The design and construction of a valve chamber and reservoir piping for snowmaking, the installation of electrical and monitor systems, and the creation of all ancillary components to complete water supply and treatment systems.
  • The design of key components including: a raw water intake and pumping station, chemical dosing, immersed UF membrane filters, disinfection/treated water chlorination, and clear well and high lift pump station.
  • Ancillary systems to support the operation of the entire water system, which included a treatment plant building (with separate electrical, chemical storage, laboratory and main process rooms), electrical monitoring and control systems, standby power, a residuals pump station (waste line to WWTP by others), coordination with snowmaking systems operations, and a communications link.
This was fast-track project with a demanding schedule which involved the installation of specialist water and wastewater treatment equipment and associated controls. Tritech was able to pro-actively resolve design and construction issues by fostering a strong working relationship with the engineer and owner. We completed and commissioned the facility two years prior to the 2010 Winter Olympics.
