Project Description

This project involved the construction of a Biological Aerated Filtration (BAF) System for the wastewater treatment plant in Canmore, Alberta. Tritech installed a number of interconnected components to create the system and we were also responsible for start-up, testing and commissioning after installation.

  • The supply and installation of a Biological Aerated Filtration (BAF) System (including one C-side BAF filter system, one N-side BAF filter system, BAF filter gallery and superstructure extension, BAF influent screen, BAF system recycle pumping system, BAF intermediate pumping system, BAF control system, and BAF isolation slide gates).
  • The start-up, testing and commissioning of the BAF system.
  • Incidental and related work, which included associated channels, mechanical, electrical, architectural, structural, controls, instrumentation and civil work.

To allow the plant to continue to function during construction, Tritech implemented an innovative bypass solution. This strategy meant that there was minimal impact to service for the client while the expansion was underway. In response to strict environmental requirements, Tritech submitted a comprehensive report to the Alberta Ministry of Environment outlining any effluent discharge into the Bow River.
