Barrowtown Pump Station Backup Power Generation

Tritech is responsible for the the construction of Civil site works and backup power generation for the Barrowtown Pump Station in Abbotsford, including all equipment and appurtenances.

The key components of the Work include the following:
- Mobilization of pre-purchased equipment to site;
- Installation of the walk-in enclosed standby generators, load bank for generators, E-house with 2.4kV switchgear, MV outdoor vacuum circuit breaker, cable bus system between the E-house and existing MCC/new MV breaker, terminations for all conductors, supports and access to roof work;
- Installation of concrete duct bank, 2400V, 600V, brackets and  hardware for the cables connecting the generators to the E-House, and cable bus for cables connecting E-House to the PS Building Electrical room;
 Cast-in-place concrete for reinforced concrete pad for the electrical infrastructure and cast-in-place concrete for reinforced concrete stairs;
- Trench excavation, dewatering, concrete treatment and backfill;
- Installation of stormwater manholes, catch basins, stormwater sewer piping, perforated pipes, outfall pipe, and riprap bank protection;
- Site grading/ mill and pave existing asphalt surface; and,
- Commissioning and Testing.
The Barrowtown Pump Station is an essential infrastructure component. It is crucial that the planned work guarantees uninterrupted access of the pump station and would remain operational throughout the project’s duration. As it is directly adjacent to a fish-bearing body of water, all precautions must be taken to prevent the discharge of deleterious materials into the water including oils, fuels, and sediment.
